Berries in flower early May.
|
Strawberries are one of the more popular crops that we grow here at Naber's. There is nothing that compares to fresh strawberries over vanilla ice cream, or fresh strawberry pie with maybe a little whip cream on top, or how about just a bowl of fresh strawberries all by themselves? No matter how you like them, they always seem to be a favorite among many. Click here for the most recent crop status information and strawberry news. |

We market our berries using several different methods all the while maintaining that fresh picked quality:
Pre-picked & purchased at the farm. Lincoln Haymarket Farmers Market. Roadside stand. Wholesale to grocery stores. Wholesale to other roadside vendors. This year u-pick is not available. |
U-pickers getting an early start. Our own picking crew laying down on the job. |
We use many varieties to lengthen our season, each with its own flavor. All the varieties we grow work well for freezing, some are a little better than others for maintaining firmness after freezing, but all are quite acceptable. Each has its own distinct flavor and aroma. |

The nutrition information on the left shows just how healthy those delicious berries are for you. The typical quart of fresh whole strawberries contains approximately 4 servings. In addition to the nutrients shown in the chart, strawberries are also a good source of Beta-Carotene and Lutein. Strawberries are a very tasty and healthy way to help you meet the goal of 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Check out the recipe corner on the right to find some great recipes to put those new berries to the test. |
